Championing the Role of Fathers in Families and Communities

For more than a decade, the Strong Families Commission has championed the message that “fathers matter” – both to their children, and to the communities they work and live in. Through its ongoing work, The Commission continues to advocate for a cultural shift that values fatherhood.

Our 3-Dimensional Mission

First and foremost, join the ranks of others who serve as advocates for Strengthening Families and Improving Developmental Outcomes for Children by 1) promoting greater father involvement in the life of children, 2) encouraging fathers to always recognize and respect the caregivers of their children, and 3) support fathers (residential or not) in the building and maintaining of healthy communities in which their children live.

Second, urge Corporate Board Leaders and/or Administrators of social service agencies and child and family systems of care to intentionally transform their service delivery models to adopt and institutionalize a father-inclusive posture toward men within the families that they serve.

Last, but not least, present to the public the Voices of Men who have Experienced or/are Experiencing Family Disruption and the impact it has had or is having on their lives, as well as the lives of the children they have fathered. Thus, our vision for the future is children and youth in Philadelphia, across the state of Pennsylvania, and throughout America will benefit from and grow up with the emotional, social, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and financial support of both of their parents, in healthy and supportive environments.

Supporting Fathers and Families at Every Level.

We envision a future where children and youth in Philadelphia, across Pennsylvania, and throughout the nation grow up supported by both parents—emotionally, socially, physically, intellectually, spiritually, and financially—within healthy and nurturing communities.
